Clydebank Housing Association has appointed Cruden Building to deliver a multimillion-pound affordable housing development at the site of the former St. Cuthbert’s Church in Clydebank.

Enabling works to prepare the site havejust completed and construction work will start shortly on the £3.9 million development, which will see much-needed new affordable homes for rent to help address local housing needs.

The new housing, which has been designed by Coltart Earley architects, will comprise of twenty-four new apartments within two, three-storey blocks. It will also feature four one-bedroomed apartments, fifteen two-bedroomed apartments, including two which will be specifically adapted for wheelchair use, and three five-bedroomed apartments.

The new development will also have communal gardens and a parking area and is set for completion in Summer 2022.

Sharon Keenan, Chief Executive of Clydebank Housing Association, said: “We are certain that, when completed, these twenty-four new affordable rented properties will be much sought after. They will offer current and future tenants’ high quality, energy efficient homes with community Wi-Fi.  As an organisation, we aim to provide a diverse range of housing stock and this new build development will be a welcome addition.  These homes will help to address the ever-increasing demand for social housing in our area of operation and assist us in achieving our objective of ‘providing quality, affordable housing that meets the changing needs of our customers’.

Cruden has been working closely with the Association and their consultants for several months now to design a modern, energy efficient development which meets the demands of modern living. In the current climate costs are also vitally important and the final design has ensured that Scottish Government grant funding targets are met.
